Although computers are constantly increasing their performance, you sometimes have to struggle with the CPU resources in your music projects. Antares autotune evo vst 6.09 air free download. Here are nine steps to reduce CPU load in Ableton Live and make your DAW more efficient, stable and faster. Reduce CPU Load in Ableton Live – A List of 9 Tweaks. CPU Spikes on Windows I recently bought a pc and switched from mac to windows. I did everything that i could find to optimize my pc for audio production, literally everything (system settings, buffer size, driver updates and much much more).
Hello all,I wanted to share this with you because I really couldn't believe it. Maybe it will help some of you with your issues if you have unexplained CPU spikes and glitching audio.
I have a desktop powerhouse I7 8GB with dedicated graphics fast SSD system drive and separate 7200 drive for audio recording and another drive for samples.
No problem right? Wrong. Live 9 has been a pain. The CPU meter jumping around all over the place in large and small projects. My audio was crackling and popping every now and then and I am sure this is the reason. I tried all the usual tweaks, buffer size, background services, turn off wifi etc etc. No luck.
Strangely I found that turning off multiprocessor support made things better. Not completely better but the spikes seemed to be reduced and CPU use was less. This seemed really weird.
The other thing. Other DAWs were fine. Studio One etc all run smoothly.
Anyhow. My system is a Dell. I remember looking in power options before and the system was set to 'Dell Balanced'. I didn't think much of it. Until I looked more closely.
For a desktop PC, Dell by default had put together a power profile that throttled my CPU down to 5% minimum and 100% max. It was as if I had a laptop on power saving mode. There was no need for Dell to do this and I never in a million years thought a high spec desktop would have a crippling power saving profile.

So I switched the profile to high performance. 100% min and 100% max CPU and loaded up ableton.
Suddenly no spikes, low stable CPU use and multiprocessor mode made things even better (as it is meant to!).
Now this doesn't explain why other DAWs were fine. But I guess Ableton is more resource hungry.
Nevertheless. Check and double check your power settings in windows because it could be that which is throttling your CPU down. It seems obvious now, but I really was shocked to find that my desktop was being hamstrung by a silly Dell power management profile.
Hope this helps some of you.
MarkI'll start out by saying that I recently built a desktop PC.
I am running Windows 7 and 32 bit Ableton Live 9 Suite (because not all plugins are 64 bit).
8 GB RAM
2 TB data hard drive (G) (samples and projects here)
128 GB SSD (C) (applications here)
Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 audio interface
ASIO4All driver
THE PROBLEM:
When I play back my projects, it starts out using a normal CPU amount (10-20%). Over time, it gets higher and then starts to spike to over 100%. This leads to dropout and even higher CPU readings.
I look at my task manager, and CPU usage is normal throughout (around 20%).

There is also an Ableton Index which uses about the same CPU percentage. If I Collect All and Save to (C:) rather than (G:), the index percent goes to 0%)
I collect all and save to my local drive (drive C) so to eliminate the possibility of the problem being caused by files being stored on separate drives.

VST's are all legit (not torrented)WHAT I'VE DONE SO FAR:
I've defragged all HD's, backed up to external drive, restored and reinstalled everything, played with different buffers and latencies. NOTHING WORKS
My only conclusion is that the problem is caused by a problem with my audio settings (somehow)
Help me please?!? I've been trying to figure this out for weeks
